Beverly Palmer, Ph.D., has been a clinical psychology professor at California State University, Dominguez Hills for 38 years, teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in clinical psychology and social psychology. Since 1985, she has maintained a private practice as a licensed clinical psychologist, assisting individuals and couples with a range of personal and relationship issues.

In 2001, she was awarded a Fulbright Scholar Fellowship to Borneo to bring the latest developments in psychology and online instruction to the faculty of the University of Malaysia, Sabah.

In 2004, she was awarded another Fulbright, this time to the University of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur. In 2005, she was awarded a Fulbright Scholar Fellowship to Barbados to create an undergraduate program in psychology.

She has authored publications and presented on topics including love, relationships, interpersonal skills, and sexuality. The American Psychological Association lists her as the scientific expert on interpersonal attraction and relationships for journalists to consult.

She has contributed to dozens of magazines, newspapers, and online articles, including Allure, USA Today Magazine, MSN.com, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and USA Today. One of her most cited publications is “Love” in Magill’s Survey of Social Science (1993) and “Interpersonal Attraction” in Psychology & Behavioral Health (2015).
